Cynthia Reichard is Executive Vice President of Arylessence. She plays a leading role in the advancement of fragrance research, creative development and testing programs for Arylessence clients. She pioneered the concept known as Arylessence Fragrance Management®. This innovative, consumer-focused approach aligns fragrance creation with a company's corporate, business and marketing objectives and develops winning fragrances that are designed to help brands and businesses grow. Active in fragrance industry affairs, Cynthia serves on committees of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA North America), the fragrance industry's self-regulatory authority, as well as its independent research affiliate, the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM). Bret Tanner is Vice President of Operations for Arylessence. An industrial engineer, he designed and implemented the transformation of Arylessence into one of the most advanced fragrance and flavor production facilities in the United States. At Arylessence, production planning, manufacturing, inventory control, materials handling, quality control and assurance, shipping and logistics are combined in a seamless process that provides clients with unparalleled competitive advantages, including the industry's first and only guaranteed three-day production turnaround from received order to dispatch of the finished product. Bret also manages information technology, business systems, and energy conservation to improve productivity, dramatically reduce production costs, and improve efficiency. This helps Arylessence clients simplify logistics and increase speed to market.
Bruce Garlick is Chief Perfumer at Arylessence and Vice President of Fragrance Research and Development. A lifetime perfumer, Bruce is a fragrance innovator, an inspired creator, and a highly experienced practitioner of the 'American' school, where great fragrances are built around a great idea and change the world for a brand and its business. He trained as an apprentice perfumer at International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) under the great Bernard Chant, creator of Aramis and Halston fine fragrances, and then worked extensively in London, Paris and throughout Europe. Bruce made his first mark in fragrance history with Xanadu, a landmark fragrance for women, created for Faberge's Amelia Bassin to reflect the freedom of women who changed the rules in the 1960s. He was also the first perfumer from a major international fragrance company to create candle fragrances, conducting pioneering research into the fundamental properties of waxes and bases and the types of fragrances that work best. He is also an expert on laundry fragrances, how signature laundry scents should be developed, and how these fragrances can be expanded across a diverse product lineup. At Arylessence, Bruce transformed perfumery and fragrance evaluation, highlighting the role fragrance plays in marketing strategy. He pioneered the use of visualizing techniques to create fragrance ideas, and thanks to exceptional insight into what makes a great perfumer, has recruited and trained many Arylessence stars. Today, he remains an active, hands-on fragrance creator.
Heather Sims is Director of Perfumery. A career perfumer known for her competitive marketing insights, Heather builds her creativity on solid principles that have helped her develop winning fragrances across multiple product lines and helped her clients achieve success in highly competitive categories. She believes that rethinking the basics, making innovation happen, and meeting consumer expectations in new, unexpected ways are the keys to creating fragrances that win in the marketplace. She has exceptional expertise in contemporary floral fragrances, a special understanding of woods and musks, and believes that visual factors like color have a powerful influence in fragrance design. Trained as a chemist, Heather's approach is based on strong science and technology, but she believes that great fragrances are always simple, elegant, and pure. She works closely with clients to develop fragrances that help brands stay ahead of consumers, competitors, and the status quo.
Lori Miller Burns is Director of Marketing at Arylessence. An experienced consumer products marketer, she has special expertise in consumer insights, trends and behaviors that help perfumers to develop competitive fragrances and clients to create winning brands. She worked as a marketing executive for some of the best-known and most innovative brands in America, including Clinique, Aveda, and The Body Shop, where her experience included new product development, new fragrance introductions, and consumer marketing. In these roles, she worked closely with Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher as well as Anita Roddick, the inspired entrepreneur who built The Body Shop. At Arylessence, Lori publishes the much anticipated Arylessence TrendWatch®, a comprehensive review of trends that define the American consumer and provide new directions for product development, fragrance design and marketing. She leads a marketing team that develops special insights into products, packaging and colors that are setting new trends in consumer packaged goods, fashion, product design, home décor and furnishings.
Michelle Harper is Director of Fragrance Evaluation and plays a key role in the development of all Arylessence fragrances. She understands each client's marketing objectives, and is intimately aware of competitive dynamics in the marketplace. She works closely with perfumers to develop innovative, winning fragrances, and provides evaluative feedback on their creative ideas. She helps Arylessence clients choose the right fragrances to transform their products, make new consumer connections, and build their brands. An expert in contemporary fragrances, Michelle was a fragrance chemist at Calvin Klein, responsible for quality assurance on personal care products during the development of landmark introductions such as CKOne, the first unisex fragrance for young men and women. She leads a team of experienced evaluators and fragrance chemists, and is active in industry organizations, including the National Candle Association, IFRA North America, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, Women in Fragrance and Flavor Commerce, and the American Chemical Society.
